Good things for dinnertime
Scrivener November 8th, 2007
Eldest and Youngest spent almost the entire span of dinnertime tonight debating the relative merits of Jeff Tweedy and Colin Meloy. Eldest thinks Tweedy is the absolute best, but Youngest says Meloy is her favorite. Then Eldest reminded Youngest that Tweedy sings “California Stars,” which made Youngest reconsider her position momentarily, but then she returned to her original position because, after all, the “whale song” is just soooooo good. Then Eldest wondered where the Mountain Goats should fit in this hierarchy. Youngest didn’t especially care, but Eldest decided that Tweedy and the Mountain Goats are equal. Then Eldest began to explain to youngest about why Petra Haden left the Decemberists to pursue her own solo career. This discussion was followed by interpretive dance to Kelly Hogan’s rendition of “Senor El Gato,” which entailed a lot of the girls watching their reflections shimmy and lick their paws in the french doors.
They are the coolest.
i’d love to see the senor gato dance!
Your kids really are the coolest ever.
I finally watched “I am trying to break your heart” and was a bit stunned at the end to realize that Tweedy has kids. That’s one great documentary, though.
