Oh, very cool! I love the reddish tone (of the balloon) in the shadow. Nicely done!

Isn’t it funny how taking a picture of this shadow elevates it to something noteworthy? I love it! Love the skirt twirling too.

I really love the color and fading of the red – very neat.

I love the color in the shadow! Nice!

I posted this on my blog in response to you, but your original post was so long ago, I thought I should post it here too, so you’d get your answer! Hope it helps:

Scrivener–I haven’t been ignoring your comment, really. I’ve been trying to find a book for you. We don’t sell any (my boss doesn’t think we’d make any money on them…I beg to differ!), but I do have a great book for the Canon Digital Rebel called the “Digital Rebel Field Guide” Even if you don’t use the Digital Rebel, there are some great sections on light, composition, depth-of-field, etc. etc. etc. All of the basics in a very accessible style of writing. And there are ample example pictures! I’ll see if I can dig up a title of a non-camera-specific book, but that might take some more time! Good luck!

(And I didn’t know what the 1:1 converter was until about 3 weeks ago! It basically helps you get even closer to the subject and if it were used on a film camera and you took a picture of a penny, for example, the penny on the negative would be the same size as a penny in real life, or something like that…see, I still don’t know entirely what it is! My boss explained it to me, but I’m utterly confused by it.)

I’m glad you guys like this one. I had fully expected to put up one of the shots of the fountain I took yesterday, but I really like the simplicity of this shot. It seems different from anything else I’ve done, too, so I figured I should post it. Thanks for the comments.

I’ll repost my reply to Liane’s comment on her blog, too, mainly because y’all might be interested in the link it contains:

No worries, Liane. I was halfway facetious–meaning if you have a ready recommendation for a good intro book, than I’d certainly be interested in hearing it, but I’m not too worried about it. Someone posted a link to this page of photo resources and tips and I’ve sort of browsed around in there a bit.

I think I’ve found a digital photography to take at an art & design school here, but I can’t start until the summer session in June.

Thanks for looking around for me though.
