A Separate(d) Peace, originally uploaded by Scrivenings.

I cut the book up and modge podged (is that a great verb, or what?) it onto canvas.

I also did The Fountainhead and Brave New World this afternoon, and I’ll do either Catcher in the Rye or Lord of the Flies next chance I get to spend the day pretending to be an artist. Then, I will paint them all somehow–I had a plan in mind for the painting when I started, but that was before I knew that these would be so damn cool. Now I have to come up with a much better plan.

This is seriously cool. I love the idea of cutting them up. Talk about pastiche! I can’t wait to see when you paint them!

Very cool idea! It looks great!

I have to say that I prefer A Separate Peace like this than I did in jr high.

I’m going to paint over them soemhow, and then hang them up on a wall somewhere. Or maybe I’ll make a whole bunch more of them and try going around to art fairs and sell them, and then when people ask what I do, I can say that I’m an artist.

Very cool idea! The photography of the canvases is as novel (ha!) as the concept itself. :)
