Oh, it all looks so fresh!! I also like your recipe . . . I think I’ll follow that this weekend. Thanks!
nice.
what was your light source on this one?
My light sources were the spotlight built into the cabinet above the counter and the flash built into my camera.
I need to learn more of the nuts & bolts of photography–I don’t even really know what an f-stop is. Sigh.
I also need to buy a new flashlight, I discovered when I thought about trying to take a picture of some corks. The batteries are dead in my one good flashlight and the batteries are jammed so solidly inside the thing that I cannot get them out to put in new ones. And there’s not enough room between the case and the batteries to get anything to grab onto them. I am wondering if this isn’t some sort of purposeful design element, so that I have to buy a new flashlight every time the batteries run down.
Looking again at the pictures I uploaded to Flickr last night … all of them are pretty dark as soon as you get away from the immeidate source. I thought the little spotlights from the cabinet were casting a lot of light, but evidently not enough.
Take a class, Scrivener. You’ll love it. Check out non-intuitive places like the YMCA or JCC to see if they have such classes (I’m taking mine at the Manhattan JCC.)
But what I was originally going to ask was whether this is the girls’ reward to make up for the risotto the other night?
I’m going to look around for classes again. There’s a 35mm film class on my campus, but at an inconvenient time and really I don’t especially care about learning how to use a darkroom at this point.
Oh, and I dunno if this consitutes a reward. Ella really liked it, Chloe not so much. I did learn that watchign me take pictures of the food is almost as good as having the kids help me make the food as far as getting them excited about actually eating the food goes, which is a nice bonus.
Maybe the ice cream cone qualifies as a good way to make up for making non-mushroom risotto.
I know your time is valuable, but think about learning darkroom techniques. They come is VERY handy has you begin to take photographs (digital and film), and they can help a lot when you start to post-process digital work (as in Photoshop). There is something very powerful about the creative process in the darkroom . . . just a thought.
Another vote for a class with darkroom time here. You can read about exposure, but it helps to practice with a pro. Developing film really helped me understand what I did (or did wrong, frequently) when I took the picture.
honestly, i don’t know much about photography either. i was only asking because the photo seems to have a hint of blue and was thinking that it might be a little nicer if the light were warmer.
do you adjust your photos in photoshop or is it straight from the camera?
…keep the photos coming!
